How might we find people who are curious about user experience design? That is the question that we set out to answer in January 2010. Since then, UXCamp DC has become more than just an annual event, it's become a community of curious designers.
Why an unconference? Before launching UXCamp DC, we attended other unconferences and thought that this open forum might work. After all barcamps were already a thing, e.g. WordCamp and UXCamp London. We set out to produce the first UXCamp in the US, not just DC. In January 2010, we found our tribe of people curious about user experience design. Ten years later, we've built a community of user experience designers who come back year after year. Why only 75 curious designers?
Ordinarily, UXCamp DC manages attendees based on Dunbar's number of 150. To continue building a community of people curious about design, we want to keep the spirit maximizing social connections. |

What's the day like?
You will get a chance to sign up to present a topic the night before. We go online at 9:30 am. You'll introduce yourself and pitch your session topic in the morning. Every hour on the hour, starting at 10 am, breakout rooms will be set up for three simultaneous sessions with 15 minute breaks. We will have an open breakout room just for hanging out, meeting new people, and discussing what you learned in a session you attended. |
